- An Aesop Fable
- A fable is a short story which includes a simple conflict and resolution imparting a lesson or moral. Aesop’s Fables is a collection of fables credited to Aesop, a slave and storyteller, 2,500 year ago in Ancient Greece. There are 725 all together and can be accessed on the Library of Congress website at https://www.read.gov/aesop/001.html
- Fables are great examples of stories from oral language tradition, a cornerstone to literacy.
- Since most fables only have two characters, usually animals, there are many more fable options that we don’t put together as a set, but you can.
- The Tortoise and the Hare is one of the most well-known of Aesop’s and teaches SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE - a great message for everyone!
